Children living with Disabilities in Chipata have been encouraged to be focused in order to achieve their dreams and aspirations
Speaking during the commemoration of the day of an African Child at Leonard Cheshire homes society in Chipata, a Representative from Mary`s Meals Comfort Kamanga who is the Head of Human Resource and People Development, has encouraged the children to be focused in order to achieve their dreams and aspirations
Mrs. Kamanga says the day of an African Child is a time to celebrate the life of the African child who despite having difficulties, is still expected to make a great leader tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Cheshire Homes society Sister in Charge, Theresa Katongo says the home is keeping about 36 children with different disabilities drawn from different parts of Eastern Province.
She says well wishers are free to come through to help in the protection of children’s rights, provision of access to quality education, providing opportunities for healthy childhood through access to healthcare and nutrition.
And giving special thanks, Cheshire homes society board member Luis Zulu thanked Mary’s Meals for visiting the home and extending love through donations.
He says society has the task of safeguarding the future of the children and has since called on well wishers to come on board and assist in the running of the home.
The Day of the African Child is an opportunity to raise awareness for the ongoing need to improve the education of children living across Africa.
This year’s Day of an African Child was commemorated under the theme”Disability is not Inability”.
